Kenny Chesney’s song, Don’t Blink, is so appropriate! Life is so fast!! I enjoy taking time to sit down and reflect all that takes place in one year’s time!! This was the first year ever that we were not all together on our family vacation, which was heartbreaking. We spent our traditional time in the mountains including Avon, Vail, and Leadville.
Lauren, age 15, is a Sophomore!! Lauren still loves gymnastics! She finished her second season of high school gymnastics in November. Sadly, she had to sit out a good portion of the season due to a left foot injury. She injured it doing a back flip off the balance beam. She landed short and heard a pop! Lauren is getting good at wearing a boot! She had her first meet of the club competition season in January and placed first on beam, bars, and all around! Lauren attended Homecoming (Out of This World Theme) with a group of friends. They had a blast! Lauren attended several camps with Highpoint, Young Life, and Midpoint. Lauren leads the 5thgrade girls in Midpoint. Lauren brought her good friend, Em, up to Avon with us this summer. Em’s mom, Esther, and Em’s brother joined us for our annual bike ride from Avon to Vail and back. Her involvement in activities continues to increase with every year! She joined FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) this year. She is also part of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and Unicef (UNICEF works across 190 countries and territories to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents). Lauren got a sweet Guinea Pig and named her Smores. We passed the Guinea Pig off to her cousin Cailynne do to the fact that the new dog seemed to want to eat her!!
Parker, now 19, is taking a gap year. He graduated from Rock Canyon High School in May of 2018. Parker worked at Panera during his senior year and now works at Mod Pizza. Parker went to Prom with Honor in April of 2018. The pictures are stunning! Honor and Parker are coming up on 2 years of dating in March. Parker had oral surgery on June 6th to remove a cyst which was found to be nonmalignant, Praise God!! His face was sooooo swollen after surgery. I included a picture. He then had to get three root canals, on #’s 10, 11, and 12, on July 19th, 2018. Parker enjoys gaming and has become quite the pro at the game Fortnite (a free-to-play Battle Royale video game developed and published by Epic Games). Parker’s goal is to work as a software engineer one day.
Austin, 22, is working at a fancy steak house called Perry’s Steak House. He has been dating Liz for one year now. Austin, Liz, Mikey, Tyler, and Joe headed at to Ohio for a big concert called Lost Lands in September of 2018. They were able to stop and stay with Jerry and Denise during their trip. Jerry and Denise have made the decision to move back to Colorado and are having a home built in Castle Rock! Austin became the owner of a sweet dog. Her name is Nala and she is now 10 months old. We found Nala while delivering Thanksgiving meals downtown. She was outside and was very cold. The family that owned her were worried they were going to have to put her down because they could not keep her. Austin wanted her the moment he saw her.
It is with great sadness that I write we lost our sweet True on November 4th, 2018!! She was 14 years 11 months old. We miss her dearly!! She was the world’s best dog!!
Monica has now been a school nurse consultant for 2 ½ years and loves it!! The schedule and hours are phenomenal! She took on the role of the high school gymnastics team mom this year and was so grateful to spend this cherished time with Lauren.
Scott has continued with his passion for cycling and finished his 6th Leadville 100 race along with David. Scott is currently working as a manager at Jing while he grows and learns his new role as the owner of CS Wines.
Scott and Monica continue to volunteer at Highpoint, Cherry Hills Community Church’s Youth Group, as small group leaders. Scott is leading senior boys and Monica is with sophomore girls. It is a blessing to not only spend time with Lauren during these critical years, but with all of these amazing young youth!! We pray for God’s will to be done in their lives!! Scott and Monica also accepted serve on the core team with the Rock Canyon Section Community at Church.
We wish you much happiness, blessings and peace in 2019! God Bless you!
