Gra-ti-tude
Noun the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness (Dictionary).
I feel immense gratitude as we head into 2020! Life is a beautiful journey. A great learning this year is to show kindness daily because you never know when it will be too late! 2019 was filled with some of the greatest times and hardest times.
My favorite times of each year are when we spend time together as a family! We spent our traditional time in the mountains including Avon, Vail, Keystone, Grand Lake, and Leadville. Scott and Monica also had the privilege of traveling to Paris and Italy!!
Lauren, age 16, is a Junior!! Lauren got her first job in August at John Holly’s Asian Bistro. Lauren still loves gymnastics! In April, Lauren took first in state on Beam!! Lauren, Kaylee, Hailey, Michelle, Tara, Scott and I traveled to Kansas City, Missouri for Gymnastics Regionals in May. She finished her third season of high school gymnastics in November. Club competition season began in January and she has placed in both meets so far. Her 3rd meet is on Valentines Day. Lauren attended Homecoming (Classic Rock Theme) with Dyson Modica and a group of friends. Lauren attended several camps with Highpoint, Young Life, and Midpoint. Lauren leads the 6th grade girls in Midpoint. Lauren brought her good friend, Riley, up to Avon with us this summer. Riley celebrated her 16th Birthday on the trip. Riley’s family came up to Avon and hiked to Hanging Lake with us. Lauren continues to be involved in several activities! She has continued with FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). She joined DECA (prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe) this year and was involved in several DECA competitions. Lauren was asked, by her cousin, Alanna, to be her Maid of Honor in June on 2020!! We attending Alanna and Dalton’s engagement party in August.
Lauren met a young man named Kendall during the High School Winter Revival, in January. They are now dating!!
Parker is now 20!! He is no longer a teenager. Parker worked at Mod Pizza until April of 2019. Parker is now working at John Holly’s Asian Bistro. Yes, he and Lauren work at the same place which is pretty cool! Parker is also working on content creation in his spare time. Parker attended Senior Prom with Honor in April of 2019. The pictures are stunning! Honor and Parker’s relationship sadly came to an end in April of 2019. This was one of the hardest times of the year! Parker was asked to be Dalton’s groomsman in June of 2020. Parker still enjoys gaming and is quite the pro at the game Fortnite (a free-to-play Battle Royale video game developed and published by Epic Games). He attended his first ever Fortnite Tournament (Solo) on February 8th. Parker’s goal is to work as a Software Engineer one day. One of Parker’s friends, Johnny Stack, died by suicide on November 20th, at the young age of 19. This was also one of the hardest times in 2019!! In December, Parker experienced 10 days of high fevers, reaching as high as 106.7! It was super scary. We are not sure what caused his temperature to get so high. He was treated with antibiotics for a possible sinus infection.
Austin is now 23!! Austin ended his job at Perry’s Steak House and started a job with Schomp BMW in April. He continued to work at Schomp BMW until October when he was offered and accepted a management position at Jing! He and Scott sometimes get to work together. Austin has been dating Liz for over 2 years now. Austin, Liz, and Nani (Liz’s dog) moved into their first new home in March. We are grateful that they live close to us!
Nala is our sweet dog. She will be 2 in April. She brings a lot of joy to our home!!
Monica has now been a school nurse consultant for 3 ½ years and continues to love it!! Monica leads the Elementary School Nurses in the district. She was the high school gymnastics team mom again this year and was grateful to again spend this cherished time with Lauren.
Scott has continued with his passion for cycling and finished his 7th Leadville 100 race along with David! Scott celebrated his one-year anniversary as a partner of CS Wines. He continues to consult for Jing as well. Scott was asked to officiate Alanna and Dalton’s wedding in June of 2020.
In June we, meaning mostly Scott and CJ, redid our back yard, the back deck, and some of the front yard, including planting a new Oak Tree. It was a HUGE project and much needed!! I have added the before and after pictures.
Scott and Monica lead the Rock Canyon Section Community at Cherry Hill’s Community Church. It is a blessing to see eternities changed for God’s kingdom! Scott and Monica had the opportunity to travel to Paris and Italy in October to celebrate 20 years and 3 months of marriage, one of the greatest times of 2019!! We are hosting a young lady, Sille, from Denmark for one semester in our home.
Happy 2020!! God bless you all!
