Happy Valentine’s Day from the Moyers!
Family Highlights from 2024:
Epic Spring Break Trip to Disneyland, California Adventures, and Universal Studios.
A trip to Madrid and Barcelona, Spain for Jared, Jill, Jacob and Beckett to visit David, Anne and Sarah.
A week at Lake Powell with the Stewart/Ward/Hightower Crew.
Saying Goodbye to Jacob for the next two years as he heads to Vietnam. It was hard realzing our family will not be back together again with all seven boys in one place for at least three years!
Thanksgiving in Oregon visiting the Moyers. We loved having time with Grammie who is 98 years old.
Jared is still working for Sierra Nevada Corporation and has been assigned to a new project. His highlight from 2024 was going to Spain, and he especially loved Segovia. The aqueduct was incredible, and he loved being able to visit a REAL castle. His childhood dreams came true! He is working with the twelve and thirteen year old boys at church (Caleb’s group). He was also in charge of the food for Young Men’s Camp for over 150 young men and leaders this summer.
Jill keeps herself busy as she is in her third year of teaching middle school Math. This year she has sixth and seventh graders. She even gets to have Caleb in one of her sixth grade classes! Her highlight was going to Spain and enjoying two weeks of speaking the language, taking the trains and buses everywhere and exploring new places. One highlight was spending a day in Tossa del Mar. The very best part was spending a week with David, Anne and Sarah in Barcelona.
Jacob has had a wonderful Senior year as his 4x800 team qualified for and ran at State. He was accepted at BYU and graduated from Legend High School in May, and then enjoyed a packed summer traveling to Spain, surfing at Lake Powell, and hanging out with friends as much as possible. In August, he started his two year mission to Hanoi, Vietnam. He spent 9 weeks in the MTC learning Vietnamese and then headed to Vietnam at the end of October. He is currently serving down south in Ho Chi Minh City (previously called Saigon). He loves the people, loves the language, loves the food (they eat out for lunch and dinner almost every day), and loves what he is doing.
Titan is now a Senior and played Varsity Soccer this year. He loves his two Engineering Capstone Classes along with his AP Physics and AP Calc classes. He loved going to Lake Powell this summer and learning how to surf as well as hanging out with Ethan for a full week before he left on his mission. One of Titan’s favorite things to do is to cook Sunday dinners with Tutu, Fay Beckstead. (She and Gordon are wonderful adoptive grandparents to the boys!) They come up with delicious menus each time they are together that we get the benefit of enjoying. Titan is hoping to get into BYU and will be putting in his papers in the next few months to serve a mission.
Beckett is an eighth grader and really looking forward to High School. His highlights from this year include two weeks exploring Spain. His favorite things were going to Toledo, where he purchased a small dagger, and camping on the beach just south of Barcelona before David, Anne and Sarah arrived. He also discovered a love for Spanish chucherias! He loves playing lacrosse and can’t wait to be a part of the Chapperel Lacrosse team next year. He has recdently discovered a new fascination for Warhammer and looks forward to building and painting his army so he can play at the local game shop with other people.
Caleb is in Middle School and he says he kind of likes it. He likes having Mom as a Math teacher and he enjoys his good friends. He is a social bug and loves to be with people! He loves playing soccer and says his favorite position is center-mid. Caleb loves building and collecting models. He takes the time to learn about each model and can rattle off lots of facts. He has recently discovered RC planes and has added a lot of different models to the Amazon Cart in hopes of getting a good one!
McKade has had a big year as he was diagnosed with Celiac and EOE. He has had four endoscopies this year and is such a trooper! He has handled this big change in diet better than we could have hoped. He is a builder and loves to build with anything he can get his hands on. He loves everything dealing with the Military and frequently checks out books like Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales. He played soccer this last Fall with Zeke. McKade is our resident music lover and frequently makes requests of Alexa.
Bowen is our Star Wars Minifigure and military loving kiddo. He often sets up battles with his Legos and military figures, tanks and ships and can happily play for hours. He loves building Legos and comes up with some creative things on his own. Bowen decided to try a different sport this Fall and discovered that he loves lacrosse. Bowen says that going to Oregon was his favorite event of the past year. He loved fishing and shooting with Cousin Brian. He can always be found listening to a good book, especially one that deals with real events in history.
Zeke is our sports loving boy and will play anything with a ball! He thrives on playing football or soccer at recess, and he played soccer with McKade this last fall. Zeke loves to read books, and he has especially enjoyed Land of Stories and the I Survived series. If not playing ball, he loves building Legos and constructing other things. Zeke’s favorite memory from 2024 was going to Disneyland and visiting California Adventure where we rode the Incredicoaster and Cars over and over again!
We wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day!
